Who We Are

The Children's Services Council created its Mentor Center to be a local advocate for the expansion of youth mentoring and a resource for mentors and mentoring programs throughout Palm Beach County. The Mentor Center is not a mentoring program. We believe that mentoring is a strategy for success for young people, and our goal is to increase the number of quality mentoring opportunities in Palm Beach County.

Why Is Mentoring Important?

Palm Beach County’s population is mainly comprised of single working parents and two-parent homes where both must work. In addition, because of stresses and life circumstances, some parents are not emotionally available to their children. This makes mentoring – the matching of a child with a caring adult who shares interests and can serve as a role model – a significant need for many children. Teen parents and their babies also benefit from having an adult in their lives that can help them with parenting skills and other needs. Mentoring programs are available throughout Palm Beach County and CSC’s Mentor Center works to assure quality.

What We Do

For YOUTH - Every young person who wants and needs a supportive, caring adult -- someone to say "I believe in you" should have one. Toward that end, we are recruiting adults throughout Palm Beach County to become mentors to some of the many children on waiting lists in our network of mentoring programs.

For MENTORS - Making the best impact as a mentor begins with making the right connection. We assist you to locate the best opportunity to mentor based on your preferences, interests, location and time available. We assure that you will receive appropriate orientation, training, and support before you begin, and during your relationship with your protege.

For PROGRAMS - We provide training, consultation, networking opportunities, and resources to all emerging or established mentoring programs in Palm Beach County. Programs that meet best practice standards also receive mentor referrals.
